About MNF
The Mississippi Nurses Foundation (MNF) is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization established by the Mississippi Nurses Association (MNA) in 1982. Headquartered at the Center for Nursing in Madison, Mississippi, MNF is governed by a Board of Trustees, appointed by the MNA Board of Directors. The primary programs administered by the MNF include scholarship, educational support, continuing education (CE), nursing research, health promotion, and professional development.
Mission
The Mississippi Nurses Foundation raises, accepts and disperses charitable donations to promote professional nursing and better health in Mississippi.
Vision
The vision of MNF is to be the charitable organization in the state of Mississippi that is most influential in impacting the professional image of nursing, sponsoring continuing nursing education, funding for nursing.
Goals and Objectives
The 2011-2012 strategic goals and supporting objectives for the Mississippi Nursing Foundation are listed below but not limited to the following:
Further Devleopment of a Responsive and Efficient Organization
- Conduct an annual organization assessment to determine best practice in finance, human resourses and other areas related to non-profit foundation;
- Collaborate with MNF members to review the mission, vision and future direction of the Foundation;
- Attract and retain dedicated volunteers for meaningful involvment in MNF activities;
- Conduct a customer satification survey to improve understanding of customer needs and expectations. Increase board effectiveness and its committees.
Increase Visibility of the Mississippi Nurses Foundation
- Enchance relationship with the media;
- Coordinate events and disseminate information that coincide with nurses special events; (Nightingale, Summitt and healthcare organizations nursing events.)
- Identify and make monthly presentations to different markets;
- Engage in advacacy on the state level;
- Keep constituents informed of MNF’s activities.
Grow a Stable and Diversified Funding Base
- Generate new donations and pledges;
- Implement an annual board drive;
- Make personal contacts with healthcare professionals and organizations for donations monthly;
- Organize and direct a health-focused fund raising event;
- Generate new grant funding.
