Betty Dickson Health Policy Award
Background:
Up to $2,000 to attend a national health policy meeting/conference. (Airline accommodations, if needed, hotel accommodations, conference cost, food, and gratuity.) MNF will reimburse after all receipts have been received.
Opens December 1 – Deadline February 2, 2024
Expectations Of Recipient:
• The recipient is expected to make a related presentation at a designated MNA conference within the year following the award
Eligibility Requirements:
• Full, unrestricted license to practice as a RN in Mississippi
• Member of MNA
• Recent, active involvement in a professional nursing organization at the local, state, or national level
Selection Process:
• Recipients are selected based on expressed and demonstrated commitment to health policy, leadership, professional involvement, and long term career related to health policy.
The Selection Committee will evaluate the applications based on:
• Commitment to the field of health policy;
• Potential to contribute to health policy;
• Clear connection between the conference learning objectives and the reason for attending the conference;
• Quality of the essay (well-written, clear, and within the required length).

Personal statement detailing the applicant's interest in and commitment to health policy and how they intend to pursue health policy within their career. This should be no more than 2 typed pages.
Proposed national health policy meeting, including objectives.
CV detailing both professional and extracurricular activities.
