Announcing the Newly Posted Mississippi Nurses Foundation Research Seed Grants….Deadline extended…read below.

The Mississippi Nurses Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of seed grants for scholarly activities by nurses to address health care problems in Mississippi. The two areas of interest are projects addressing major health problems in MS (e.g., infant mortality, obesity, teenage pregnancies, et al) and projects addressing evidenced-based or outcomes-based nursing in MS (i.e., clinical practice, education, or administration). Depending on the application, funds may be used for implementation and/or dissemination of study outcomes.

MNF will provide two $500 seed grants this first year.  The applicant is to be a Registered Nurse licensed in MS and a member of MNA. The applicant may be a graduate nursing student in a master’s or doctoral program in MS or a nurse clinician, educator, or administrator working in a health care facility in MS. Recipients are required to submit to the MNF reports of the study outcomes, expenditures of grant monies, and evaluations of the MNF Nursing Research Seed Grant program. Awardees may be invited to present their projects at an MNA convention in October and to a joint session of the MNA/MNF Boards in December.

The deadline for submission is June 31, 2010 (extended). The awards will be awarded by July 30, 2010. The applicant may be a master’s or doctoral graduate nursing student in Mississippi, or a clinician, educator or administrator working in a health care facility in Mississippi and must be a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association.
